    Summary: Each people has different personality and individual experiences. The experience makes people choice in a situation. That is, the choices which someone think it is good are thought bad for you while choices which someone think the worst was regarded the best to you.

   My opinion: She wrote the point very well. I agree with this part. Everyone has their own perspectives and lifestyles and it is very important. Of course, we can learn various opinions from abundance of differences which make advice more helpful, but advice is just advice. For example, if there is one friend. She earns a lot of money and she enjoys her life, so she says, "We don't have to get marriage and also we don't need to get birth. It is enough." However, the things which someone think it is bad are good to me, and also the things which someone think it is good are bad to me. Everything what I worry depends on me. If we do something with own belief, we can do everything without worries.

What do you want most in a friend: someone who is intelligent, someone who has a sense of humor, or someone who is reliable? Which one of these characteristics is most important to you? Use reasons and specific examples to explain your choice.

    I am greedy, so I sometimes want my friends to change to the characteristics what I like. I know it is a greed, but I cannot lick a fault out of mine easily.
    There are quite a lot of friends of mine. Their characteristics are very diverse, but they have something in common with each other. They are reliable. An intelligent? A sense of humor?  These are also important, but "RELIABLE" is most important to me in a friend. This because, I have hurts in friends. I was poor at relationship with friends. I have been betrayed. They liked me, but they didn't believe me out of envy. I thought why they hate me? Is there any belief between me and them? If they are friends of mine, why they did like that? When I was a high school student, I heard so many times "You are strange". I thought they didn't accept me. Then, there is specific story why I think "Realiable" is important.
    When I was a high-school student, there is a friend of mine, S. J has an effervescent personality so she had a lot of friends. There are, however, some trouble in complicated relationship. I was very sorry when she was in a bad situation. Then, one day, she was induced to bad happened. Some students said that she was heresy. In our school, there is a club that many christian students gathered and prayed together. Some students ridiculed her. I helped her because she was my friend! By the way, she was crying and yelled at me. She thought I spread a rumor! I was angry and I want to solve the problem with her, but she didn't believe me anymore. That was unfair. I was very sad. I was a christian and she knew that, but why? I was depressed. After a long time, she knew the truth, but it was too late.
    After this time, I realized that there should be "Reliable" among friends. It is not only privilege but also responsibility.

 

Week 12 : Assignment - Essay ( The best way of learning about life )

Some people believe that the best way of learning about life is by listening to the advice of family or friends. Other people believe that the best way of learning about life is through personal experience. Compare the advantages and disadvantages of these two different ways of learning about life. Which do you think is preferable? Use specific examples to support your preference.



    Each person has their own thinking about life They think in different ways about the best way about life, because they grew up in many different kinds of environment. Then, so do I. There are two main kinds of opinion about the way of learning life: listening to the advice from others and expeience, and I write this essay to say my thinking.
    Before I write my opinion, I would compare these two situations. Each situsation has advantages and disadvantages. The former, learning about life by listening to the advice of family or friends has advantage. Once, there is such a saying "Many hands make light work". If we undergo something bad, we have to get advice not keep the problem. If one woman who is just 17 years old is sexually assaulted by her acquaintance, it would be hard pressed for her. She, however, won't say anything because it is shameful. Nevertheless, she should get brave and tell to her family or friends. Living life is sometimes harmful, but it would be better if we live together. Meanwhile, listening to the advice from others also has disadvantage. Your friend worry and give an advice to you but this advice are not available for you, because your friend and you have different values. You also might want your family or friends to just listen to your trouble, not give an advice. They, however, want to give an advice for you, because they might think it is right.
    Meanwhile, the latter, learning about life through personal experience also has each advantage and disadvantage. First, I have something to tell you about advantage. There are quite many things that we have to experience as a being such as giving birth or military life. As a woman, giving birth is privilege and we cannot argue without experience. We don't know how wonderful is. Men also has this privilege. In the society, a lot of men who served in the military talk about their military life. In this time, some men who didn't serve in the military doesn't talk with his friends, because they don't know the life of military. Many people learn the life through the experiences now. There are, however, disadvantage, too. Learning everything in the world isn't for everyone. There is a limitation. Although we want to experience, we cannot do that because of some restrictions. In this time, we have to ask somebody such as family or friends or read book of theme what you want to know.
    There are a lot of situations just like I wrote, but I prefer the latter one. I prefer to learn about my life through my experience. I want to experience as much as possible. Getting advices from my acquaintance is just indirect, but I think I realize the life through experience directly. I would wake to the stern realities of life. I might know by experience myself such as getting married, Childbirth, and especially getting older. I don't know 40's life. I don't know 60's life. I just wait and live hardly until I'm 40 years. When I reach that years, I would live hardly, too! Life is experience.

    When I was a little girl, my father took me to bookstore. He always wanted to teach the moral of the book. My father showed me one book that day. It was a collection of short stories by Tolstoy. I read the book from morning till night. It was very funny! Since then, one of my favorite book is "a collection of short stories by Tolstoy".
    There are several reasons why I like this book. First, this book has a lot of stories and these are quite short, so it is not boring. Nevertheless, these are moral! These stories teach me a lesson. One story taught me that we should help poor people as a being, a christian. It is pretty simple and easy, but we don't fulfill, we can't practice well. I sometimes read this book, so I realized what I can do, what I have to do. Second, Tolstoy was a christian, so he wrote the book with the view of christian. When he taught a leasson, he wrote about our God and his authority. We are humbled in front of his authority. When I was a child, I believed my God throught this book.
    I learned a lot of things such as my belief, existence of God and our responsiblities for people around us through this book, "A collection of short stories". Therefore I like this book.

    The Korean wave, also known as "Hallyu" is very spread all over the world with K-pop, Tv dramas, TV entertainment and etc.. At first, Hallyu was used by the Chinese press in the late 20c to explain the growing popularity of K-pop in China.
    After decade later, however, Korea has became a role of new center of culture in Asia. Korea successed as a cultural exporter. Korea also has high quality cultural product incorporating Western culture, but we never lose our traditional values and cultural identity.
    The center of Hallyu was emerged by Korean TV dramas and now Korean pop music is also spread beyond Asia, reaching as far as Africa, Latin America and so on. The Hallyu's popularity has rised through digital technology and online media, because these make the gap among the countries smaller.
    The famous News, CNN and BBC, reported that Korea has become "Hollywood of the East" and said, "Korea has national brands such as Samsung and Hyundai. The booming enjoyment of Korean culture makes foreigners prefer for other Korean products and lifestyle. "The interest in Korean culture has further triggered a rise in inbound foreign tourists."

    1. INVEST IN YOUR OWN COFFEE CUP
       Nowadays, many students go to coffee shop such as "Grazie", Cafe bene, or Ti-amo etc.. A lot of cups from these cafe are symbol of waste. Invest in a recycling cup, which not only cuts down on waste. "Most coffee shops will happily fill your own cup, and many even offer you a discount in exchange!". We can save the money and protect our environment. It kills two birds with one stone.

    2.  TURN OFF LIGHTS
       When you leave a room, turn off the lights. We can save the energy!

    3. TURN OFF COMPUTERS AT NIGHT
       Turning on computers at night wastes a lot of energy involuntarily. By turning off your computer instead of leaving it in sleep mode, you can save "40 watt-hours per day".

    4. USE BOTH SIDES OF PAPER
        We write a lot of reports for assignments and we take notes in the class. "When you're finished with your documents, don't forget to take them to the recycling".

    5. TAKE A SHORTER SHOWER
       Nowadays, many women take a shower for a long time. We, however, have to take a shower in a short time for saving water. "If everyone in the country saved just one gallon from their daily shower, over the course of the year it would equal twice the amount of freshwater withdrawn".

◆ Write 200+ words about one of your other classes. What is the most interesting thing you have learned in that class this semester?

    This semester was very hard for me to endure because I experienced a lot of things that I never have had. I learned "How to teach", so I rehearsed of teaching in the first time. Especially, I remember the course "Classroom English". In this course, students had to teach just like a teacher! People called this teaching, "Micro-teaching" This experience was a new one on me. Even the professor who taught this subject was a native speaker! I was very nervous everyweek.
    I, however, desired for this subject. I want to be good at teaching in English! Then, I realized interesting things in this class. There are three interesting things I have learned. First, I was interested in using "Google Drive". Before I presented, I shared my script for my present with professor through Goodgle Drive. It was innovation! The professor could give some feedback immedietly. Thanks to this course, I could learn and use a good method. Second, the one of the interesting thing was "Feedback" from professor. About two weeks later I presented, the professor gave a paper to students. There are some feedback on that paper. Through this way, I learned what I have to correct. Teaching something in English was very hard, but "Feedback" made me challenge! Then the third one is that each student had to present third times in one semester! It was shock because I never had this experience before! I taught three subject: vocabulary, listening, speaking lesson. Presenting in English was the first time in my life! It was very good experience for me. This course would be helpful when I teach my students!
